Direct Acting Antivirals for the cure of Hepatitis C a global study.

Sofosbuvir based therapy for the treatment of Hep C for genotype 1 or genotype 2 with advanced liver disease the most effective.

An oral combination of Sofosbuvir 400mg + Ledipasvir 90mg has been most effective for treatment of Hep c for genotype 1.

An oral combination of Sofosbuvir 400mg + Daclatasvir 60mg has been most effective for treatment of Hep c for genotype 2, ( with ribavirin for patients with cirrhotic liver condition)

Study conducted by Dr. K. Rajender Reddy, MD, professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania as reported to Medical Economics.

Dr. Reddy along with his colleagues published their results in the Alimentary Pharmacaology & Therapeutics.

Patients are recommended to get tested again probably in 6 months.

The results show that genotype 1 patients had higher sustained virological response (SVR) when treated with sofosbuvir plus simeprevir, with or without ribavirin (66%–74%) than with sofosbuvir plus ribavirin (54%). Genotype 1b patients had a higher response (84%) than did genotype 1a patients (64%). SVR for genotype 2 patients was 72% with sofosbuvir plus ribavirin; genotype 3 patients had a substantially lower response (35%).
